Time to Celebrate You!

I had a vision a few of months ago for my birthday. I wanted to be honored and adorned by my close friends to celebrate me. This took place at a close friend’s magical space. I asked my three closest sisters to assist in making this happen. As I sat in the middle of the circle, my sisters took their places behind me. Then the rest of the night turned into magic, fun, play and celebration. My musician friends started to play music. One by one, I got to receive blessings, flowers, chocolate, gifts, massage and lots of love from all my special friends. The feelings of bliss and love lasted for a few weeks after the celebration.

Birthdays are a magical and sacred time for me. The act of reclaiming the sacredness of being female was so empowering. I was giving back to myself my SELF. I want for you to make this time sacred and special. It is so important these days to reclaim that sacredness to your own body and spirit. Your birthday is a time to celebrate you!

Creative Wisdom and Winter

Winter is here! I get excited when I know when winter is approaching. I enjoy when its cold and being inside. I have pleasure in resting and being with myself. I go deeper into my body and finding spaces and places that have been neglected. I appreciate wearing my furry sweaters, hats and boots. I love making winter soups and drinking hot tea. Are you resisting or are you surrendering to these gifts?

In nature, the rest of the earth quiets down and hibernates during winter. This is your time to go quiet. Make use of this time, and make it sacred……creative wisdom deep within wants to come through. Listen…..your body wisdom will respond back.

When you slow down and rest, your own body can teach and guide you. When you listen, there is a well of creative wisdom of your own healing and spiritual/personal growth can happen. Your own creativity will open and flow. Your body will start to slow down. These places in your body and spirit that you may have been neglecting will start to appear. Rest with the feeling and experience. Be present. Sit in the stillness. Wisdom will emerge.

The earth will continue to heal, when we align with her rhythms.

Deepening self love is the foundation of all relationships.

You have heard the importance of self love, and yet how many of you really truly practice it on a daily basis? I know you may understand it as a theory, but you may not use it as a practice. I see this daily in my friendships, clients, family and the people around me. We are so programmed to not love ourselves, and want to change things about ourselves daily. Take a look at the media and celebrity icons. They try so hard to look and be perfect. These people are the world’s role models. If they don’t like something, they change it with plastic surgery, face-lifts and tummy tucks.

I went to a family gather a week ago, and I hear from the women was talk about what they wanted to change on their bodies or how unhappy they were with certain parts. That made me feel really sad. We were never taught to love ourselves or our bodies as a whole from our parents, society, our teachers in school or from our friends. I never learned that from my parents because they didn’t love themselves either.

This affected me strongly in my first love relationship. I remember I would ask my boyfriend everyday if he loved me. I was so self conscious and needed that validation because of my past. “Do you love me? Do you think I am beautiful? Am I attractive?” He grew tired of the neediness. One day he let me know that I would be more attractive if I was more confident with myself. When we broke up that was my true test to learn how to love myself and be my own best friend.

This was the hardest thing that I had ever experienced. I remember crying for days on end coming home to an empty place and realizing that all I had was myself. I remember trying to make plans with friends, and they were always busy. I had to sit with that fear of mine to be alone and be challenged with this. Each day I would take steps in this new world of self love. I would spend time alone, do things that were nourishing and received support from two healers and my fairy god-mother Sapphire Moon. The nourishment for myself eventually took root in my body because one day I woke up and felt like I can take on the world! I was starting to be happy again.

Deepening self love for myself has created the foundation of all my relationships. Even to this day, I still practice daily ways of loving myself like buying my favorite chocolate and really savoring it or going on walks alone to catch the sunset. Because I feel grounded in this self love, my relationships have shifted. I don’t need love outside of myself anymore. My relationships are healthy and are based on freedom, healthy support and love. More people are drawn to me now because I don’t need this love from anyone.

I love myself, who I am and what I am creating in this world. I wish for you the same.

The importance of sisterhood and feminine power.

It is important for women to support each other now.

You may be wondering why you may need sister support. Before the industrial and technology age, women lived tribally and in community for thousands of years. They did this to assist in child raising, birthing rituals, sisterhood, emotional support and celebration. For most indigenous cultures, women did gather in circle as a way of life. In ancient Egypt, women would gather around a pregnant women and celebrate her spirit by dancing. The dance would assist her in child labor and for her to deal with contractions. This was how the art of belly dancing has come about, through moving the body and getting ready for birth. What a beautiful practice!

In Native American traditions, women were considered the healers and visionaries for the communities. They would commune together during the new moon, sit in circle and access their body wisdom during their bleeding time. They would pay attention to their bodies, and bring this wisdom to the community for insight and healing for what was happening in the world around them. I engaged in this practice personally with a group of women for a year, and I continue this beautiful wisdom practice each month. My relationship to my body has forever changed.

These lost traditions are now coming back, and this is time for you to get the sister support you need.

The old ways in which we learned to compete with each other, put each other down, be jealous and say negative things about each other is no longer cool. What the media is teaching you is unhealthy, unsatisfying and makes you feel “good” for a short period of time.

Now, we can co-create new ways of relating by celebrating our bodies, supporting each other, sharing our deepest desires and fears and inspiring each other to be our highest potential.

You can make great changes in the world by making changes to the way you relate to yourself and each other. You CAN have satisfying relationships in your life, including the one that you have with your sisters.

Believing in our men

With the state of the world right now, there are lots of changes happening. These times are challenging for a lot of people. Basically, as I see it, the way the world is breaking down. The old model of business, relationships, success are getting outdated. The old model states that to be successful you need to be greedy, manipulate, hoard, control, and compete. The new model is inclusive and that foundation is love. The new model states that we share and help each other thrive. There is enough for everyone. Everyone can be successful and what it looks like is different now. What I am noticing with a lot of men is that they are feeling more challenged right now than women, even though it is challenging for both. Reason being is that we are coming into the age of the empowered woman. The Dalai Lama stated, “The world will be saved by the western woman,” during the 2009 Vancouver Peace Summit. This is not saying that women are taking over, it means that we are coming into our power more and the distribution of power will be more equal. Our inherent nature is to be power with instead of power over. Power over was an idea the old model (patriarchy) came up with. As we now see, this way of being of trying to control, manipulate and use greed can no longer be sustainable and viable in the new model of success, business and relationships.

Our men need us more than EVER before. They don’t know what to do since the old way of success if breaking down. Some feel confused, lost and ungrounded. Women hold relationships together. Woman, also, hold inspiration in the relationship. Also, our nature is to love. We know this because we give birth and have a instinctual nature of nurturing, caring and inspiring others.

What can you do?

Stop emasculating your husband, brother, co-workers, father, and friends.
BELIEVE in your man by telling him that you believe in him.
Support him by saying that you have CONFIDENCE in him.
Really believe in him and really have confidence. Practice what you preach.
Give him space to process his struggles. Pressuring him makes him feel ungrounded and not safe to be with you.
If you emasculate him and pressure him you begin to lose his trust.
Let him know that you are there for him when he feels ready to talk.
Send him love whenever he is going through his struggles.

Love and Relationships

Our ideas of love are changing and shifting, just like the world around us. What we thought was love and our ideas of relationships need to change in order for us to grow and evolve as human beings.

Most people’s ideas of love is coming from an immature or old model approach. This looks like needing to be loved by another, expecting that this person shows up in the way that you want them to, trying to control or manipulate the other in order to get what you think you want, and not being honest to the other because you are not being honest with yourself.

When people fall in love, they get the butterflies in their stomach from the excitement, but as love continues it brings up your “stuff”. You can either embrace it and love it, or as most people their “stuff” is what is learned as a child. These are ways of control, manipulation, and bartering for love. Most people end up feeling confined in the relationship. The reason being is because the soul is free. Whatever is going to stifle the spirit is going to make the other do what ever it can to get the “hell” out. From a higher perspective, when the other does something that you may think is unfair, there is a gift in disguise.

These are ways to create healthy relationship.

Honor and love yourself as the foundation of any relationship.
Get to know yourself, inside and out.
Have a healthy relationship with your feelings.
Start to examine where your ideas of love stem from.
Understand that relationships are a spiritual path on its own. They offer you a change to grow and expand old ideas of who you are.
See what ideas serve you and throw the others away.
