Very inspiring. Makes me want to take a belly dancing class. This need for more sisterhood is what inspired me to create Creative Woman USA. Sister Artist Sellers and Sister Shoppers come together to support one another's creative talents, passions and financial growth. The Sisters also give (thru their purchases) to educate and end domestic abuse in America. Together we can create positive change for women, men and our children.

These posts inspired me to look at my life and explore my feminine side. I have found them intriguing and wish to search deeper "that's what she said". If there is someway to accomplish this? Please let me know how to proceed.

Another inspiring post. It almost makes me wish I was female so I could participate in some women circles. hahaha Seriously though, this is really important. All women would benefit from having this in their lives. Men need supportive groups of men, women need supportive groups of women. We all need each other. Modern society has taught us to be overly independent. It's not natural and it's not healthy to live our lives in separation.

Hi its just me Nicole and I want to uplift what you are doing and send you some wonderful vibrations. I just would like to add to your commentary about Ancient Egypt and bellydancing if I may. Women throughout antiquity used the dance for various reasons and on various occasions. In ancient Egypt (Kemet) they had what we call a "birthing chair" that used gravity to assist in bringing the baby through the birth canal (the most natural way versus lying on one's back). The women would surround her in a circle and would begin to perform undulating movements of the belly (belly rolling) from top to bottom bringing the energy downward which collectively would create a force that inevitably eased the process and in turn the woman in labor would do the same. In the Ottoman Empire (Turkey, Greece, etc.) women who were kept in a Harem would dance for eachother because they competed for the Sultan's affection and attention and so because they were rarely allowed in public they spent hours perfecting the dance and entertaining ONE ANOTHER. Also in rural villages and even today throughout the Middle East you will see the dance performed in people's homes in a very casual and celebratory way, its just how they dance unlike for us here in the west, a type of dance. It was just some FYI for you in case you may want to expand or incorporate it into your lectures :) There are some great books you can check out: Serpent and the Nile by Wendy Buonaventura; Grandmother's Secrets (forgot the author); and a great video by Aisha Ali "Dances of Egypt" Peace and One Love...
